At Mt Hood Community College, we're finding that equity-focused, universal design- informed courses are especially supportive for students with dynamic disabilities, whose capacity to engage in learning activities can vary unpredictably during the term. This session explores how to create accessible, flexible, and empathetic learning environments by designing with neurodiversity, chronic illness, and other dynamic disabilities in mind. We will focus on practical ways to implement equitable, bias-resistant grading practices to promote learner success and inclusion. In small groups, participants will discuss case studies about college students with dynamic disabilities and how their learning experiences and successful course completion can vary greatly depending on course policies. Participants will come away from this session with practical tips for incorporating inclusive instructional design strategies in their courses with dynamic disability in mind.
