This session explores how Lane Community College and Portland Community College use Teaching Pairs to support professional development for faculty who teach online. Through peer observation, structured reflection, and collegial dialogue, Teaching Pairs creates opportunities for instructors to share practices, deepen their understanding of online teaching, and learn from one another in a supportive, non-evaluative environment.

Presenters will compare and contrast the Teaching Pairs models used at each institution, including the tools, frameworks, and observation processes that guide faculty conversations about online teaching. Participants will learn how each college has adapted the model to support priorities such as accessibility, Regular and Substantive Interaction (RSI), quality standards, instructor presence, and student engagement.

In the spirit of Teaching Pairs, the session itself will serve as a cross-institutional conversation about faculty development, bringing together colleagues from two colleges to share lessons learned, challenges, and opportunities for growth. Participants will hear faculty perspectives on the value of connecting with colleagues and building relationships that strengthen both teaching practice and the student experience. Attendees will also reflect on their own professional development practices and exchange ideas with colleagues from other institutions.

Attendees will leave with practical strategies, tools, and facilitation ideas for implementing, adapting, or strengthening peer observation and reflective practice programs that foster collaboration, professional growth, and continuous improvement in online teaching and learning.
