About me
Mel Stark is an Instructional Designer at Lane Community College and an adjunct faculty member at Western Oregon University. With over 24 years of experience in higher education, her primary focus is on exploring how emerging technologies can enhance various learning modalities.
Mel serves on the board of the NW eLearn Conference, is an active member of the Oregon Community College Distance Learning Association, and is part of the steering committee for the NW XR Network group. In collaboration with Kevin Steeves, she promotes initiatives through the Fusion Lab, which supports research and discovery in virtual, mixed, and augmented reality formats, as well as initiatives related to Generative AI.
Her background is in multimedia and sound production, and she enjoys assisting faculty with topics such as accessibility and Universal Design for Learning (UDL). As a lifelong learner, Mel values student-centered approaches to learning and engagement, and she believes in the importance of supporting educators in adopting current and future innovations.
